Many tiny Osumilite crystals rest in the hollows of the pale gray matrix of this thumbnail piece. These crystals are in excellent condition, showing almost no damage, and do not exceed 1 or 2 mm in diameter. Their hexagonal form is good, and hall have a tabular habit, taking on the form of tiny six-sided platelets. They are black in color, have a vitreous luster and are opaque. They also appear to be the only mineral present in their matrix.
