The mineral Labradorite is the primary Day Stone for Saturday. The jewelry value for Labradorite comes from the sometimes incredible and colorful glow when light strikes the stone just right. Colors include a vivid blue, green, or yellow, sometimes even purple, orange, or red. The colors are so bright as to put an opal to shame. But they are only visible from certain angles, and when illuminated by a point source of light (such as the sun). In my personal mineral cabinet, I have a polished slab of labradorite which looks rather ordinary - but I arranged the stone such that the cabinet light reflects those intense colors toward the mirrored back of the cabinet. The effect is that the stone is boring, but it's reflection in the mirror is awesome! Labradorite is generally cut as slabs or cabochons, and is sometimes translucent. It can make for a magical piece of jewelry. Labradorite Jewelry - Hover over an item for more information |
